Page 1 of 2 Before baiting was legal you hunted field edges and mast crops the first few weeks of the season, travel corridors and funnels between food sources and bedding areas into the pre-rut, and green briars and cover crops in the late season.
So many hunters I talk to now are addicted to the pile of corn or other bait that they spend countless hours and energy hauling to their stand locations that they are miss out on the time tested and simple tactic of hunting between bedding areas when the pre-rut and rut kicks in. Don`t get me wrong I don`t have anything against baiting,?but when the chasing phase of the rut is in full swing your best chances of harvesting a mature whitetail buck is by placing yourself between two known bedding areas.
